Walgreens Store Guide

You can find a copy of Walgreens Corporate coupon policy HERE…I suggest printing this out and keeping a copy in your binder!

Walgreens Coupons:

You can find Walgreens coupons in the Walgreens weekly ad and the monthly Walgreens coupon book …both can be found at the front of every store. You can also find Walgreens coupons in the $0.99 Childrens activity books and misc books located at the pharmacy and beauty counter.

Stacking Coupons:

The Walgreens coupon policy states that you can stack  Walgreens coupon with manufacturer’s coupon. You take this one step further and stack a Walgreens in ad coupon with a Walgreens Monthly coupon book coupon with a manufacturer’s coupon!

Register Rewards:

Register Rewards (RR) are just like Catalinas from grocery stores with a few exceptions. They are coupons for a dollar amount off of your next purchase at Walgreens… They can be used on almost anything in the store with a few exceptions such as tobacco items.

Register Rewards do not roll:

If you purchase this weeks RR deal for Therma Care Heat Wraps you’ll get back a $2.50 RR. You might be tempted to take that RR and use it to buy another Therma Care Heat Wrap for free…  But, if you do… another RR will NOT print out.

Only one Register Reward prints per offer:

Maybe you really want 2 of the Therma Care Heat wraps, cuz after all, they’re FREE after the RR, right?  So you decide to pick up two and purchase them in the same transaction.  Bad news, you will only get one Register Reward for $2.50, even though you bought two Therma Care Heat Wraps!  To score your 2 $2.50RR you need to purchase the Therma Care Heat Wraps in separate transactions!

One Coupon Per Item Rule:

For me, this is truly the most annoying part about shopping at Walgreens… Walgreens only allows one coupon to be used per item.  RR’s are considered “manufacturer’s coupons” and count towards this rule.  This is the annoying part… Walgreens Coupon policy clearly states that you can use 1 MQ and one Wags Q per item…but the computer system will not let the amount of coupons exceed the amount of items purchased in a transaction!

For example, if you buy Therma Care Heat Wraps this week you will want to use the $1.00/1 Therma Care Heat Wrap Coupon available to print. If you also have a Register Reward coupon you want to use to pay for the remaining $1.50 that will be due, you will then have 2 coupons for 1 item. The register will beep and the cashier will say you have too many coupons… to get around this problem you need to purchase a small filler item in addition to your Therma Care Heat Wraps so that you have two items for your two coupons.  My Walgreens keeps carmel’s by the register that sell for 3/$1.00…these are great filler items, you could also find a cheap item on clearance, pencils or a current holiday item to use as a filler item.

Working your RR’s to your advantage:

Obviously, our main objective in using coupons is to spend as little oop (out of pocket) as possible!  In order to get the “most mileage” out of your Register Rewards you will want to separate your shopping trip into separate transactions cycling back and forth between the different Register Rewards deals. Heres an example of how you might work a shopping trip:

Transaction 1:
Buy Therma Care Heat Wraps, $2.50 = $2.50 RR
Use $1.00/1 Threma Care Coupon
Pay $1.50 get back $2.50 RR = $1.00 MM (money maker)!

Transaction 2:
Buy Toms Mouthwash, $3.99 = $3 RR
Buy Reach 2pk Toothbrushes, $2.99 = $1 RR
use $1/1 Reach Toothbrushes
Use $2.50 RR from Transaction 1
Pay $3.48 get back a $3 RR and a $1 RR = $0.52 MM!

At this point you could do Transaction 1 again and use one of the RR’s you got from Transaction 2 to pay for it. BUT, if you do that you will have 2 coupons for one item. So you’ll need to add a  filler item like a carmel so you have more items than coupons!
