Survey Sites: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly…

Let me start by saying Surveys are fun to do…BUT regardless of what anyone tells you…you wont get rich doing them! You can however, have some fun & earn enough money to treat yourself to dinner or have a little extra spending money!  Survey companies vary in payout, style and volume.

Make sure that before you begin applying to sites that you set up a SEPARATE email account for them to go to…or your personal email account will get swamped!

There are alot of GREAT survey sites out there…but  not all of them accept new panelists all the time…The following sites are all currently seeking new panelists…as other  legitimate sites become available, I’ll post the new sites!  Heres who’s open & Legitimate right now:

Mindfield  is another great paid survey site!  Once you signup with Mindfield, you have access to the member area where you can track your earnings, change preferences, and access information about the program.  There are a few profile surveys that you should take.  The profile surveys can qualify you for an increase in paying surveys and they also pre-screen you for available surveys…which means that you qualify for more of the surveys that you are sent.  The average payout is $1-$5 …but every so often you may get offered a survey paying a higher amounts.  You can also request to be paid when your balance reaches $5 or more.  CLICK HERE to check out Mindfield!

Toluna is a great site where you can earn some extra cash for taking and creating  surveys and polls and giving your opinion.  Earn points worth $1 to $5 each time you qualify for and complete a survey!  I have noticed that Toluna does not send out a ton of Surveys, but most that they do send out I seem to qualify for…which is cool!  Also you can log on to Toluna and earn points by answering other peoples surveys and creating your own…which is fun=)

I really like My Survey and I know alot of my readers already participate in this one!  With My Survey you earn points for EVERY survey you take!  I love that because with alot of survey sites, if you dont qualify to finish the survey, you dont earn…but with this one you do! You redeem your points earned for cash or prizes and every 1000 points equals $10!  You can cash out at $10 and you earn points for taking the profile surveys too!

Survey Savvy is a good one…its actually the first company I signed up with years ago and although I dont take the surveys too often anymore, they do reward you $2 for most surveys and Ive qualified for a few product reviews too!  …a few years ago I actually got accepted into an Aveeno New Product Panel via Survey Savvy and I spent 4 months doing reviews and testing FULL SIZE Aveeno products and Aveeno also rewarded me with Amazon gift cards for completing tasks and recording my thoughts…it rocked!  On a side note, many of the Survey Savvy surveys are long (about 20 min) but they do tell you an aproximate time length before starting.

Valued opinions is a pretty nice survey site, they actually pay up to $5 per survey!  But dont expect every survey to pay that much=)  Click here to register...after signing up YOU NEED TO CLICK THE ACTIVATION LINK sent to your email!!  After you do you should have a welcome survey worth $1 waiting for you!

National Consumer Panel home scan is  accepting NEW applicants! If you are accepted you will receive a scanner which you will use to track the different groceries and items you purchase and bring into your home. (If you join…have your kids do all the scanning…they will LOVE it…and it means less “work” for you!)  In exchange for doing this, you can earn some great prizes such as electronics, toys, gift cards and more! Not everyone gets accepted…but, if you do give it a try!  You can always return the scanner if you dont like the program…people have mixed opinions about NCP…some people say its alot of work for little reward and others LOVE it and think the rewards are great.  Personally, I always had fun participating in this with my kids.

This last one is for the Kiddos!  Cuz they want to make some extra $$ too!  If you have kids between the ages of 6-12 check out the KidzEyes website…they conduct market research among 6-12 year old kids *No worries, they follow the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act! OR if you have teenagers ages 13-18… they can head over to TeensEyes.com…it works almost exactly like KidzEyes.com   Here’s the details:

Kids complete the surveys that they receive form KidzEyes via email (surveys are emailed to both the kid’s and parent’s email addresses). Upon completion of the survey, kids earn KidzPoints that can be turned in for cash or prizes (100 KidzPoints = $1). Most surveys are worth between 50 and 1000 points, sometimes more…the longer the survey, the more points they award. The KidzPoints system works kind of like a bank account (KidzEyes will even keep track of your KidzPoints in an online piggy bank and kids can also keep track of their points in their member handbook, which they’ll send in the mail once the registration is complete).

After you get 1000 points ($10) saved up, your kids can cash them in or they can save them up for something special. When the points are cashed in, your kiddos will then receive a check in the mail, in care of the parent or legal guardian.

Each month, kids will also receive the KidzEyes SuperPoll survey which enters them into a sweepstakes where they could win an iPod, a Playstation 2, an Amazon.com gift card or some other cool prize!

In order for your kids to become a member of KidzEyes, you (i.e. the parent/guardian) need to complete the brief registration survey found here. You will be able to register multiple kids at a time, so the sign-up survey only needs to be completed one time per household. The registration process takes about 5 minutes AND as a thank you for completing the registration process, KidzEyes will award your kiddo with 400 KidzPoints ($4.00)!

Once the registration has been completed, the parent/guardian will need to provide permission for each child registered (you can provide permission by printing the permission form at the end of the registration process and mailing/faxing it to KidzEyes; or by requesting that KidzEyes mail the permission form to you to review and then sending it back; or by calling the 1-800-# provided at the end of the registration process)….Once KidzEyes receives parental permission, your child(ren)s accounts become active and they are now members of KidzEyes. You will also receive a final registration survey via email which is worth 100 KidzPoints ($1)!

First, let me say I love your site! You make saving money so easy.

I am interested in participating in online surveys, but I am wondering if it will really be worth it? Are the earnings you receive from the sites something that will have to be noted in my end of the year taxes? For example, I would hate to earn $100 and then have to unexpectedly pay $40 in taxes. Weird question I know :)

amy, every one is different as far as what they earn…I wouldnt expect a part time income;) but a nice dinner out every few months is a yes! Even when I did surveys regularly I never earned enough to report it. unless you earn $600 or more per source you will not need to report anything.

Don’t forget Ipsos-Isay. I get several product tests from them every year. Also, Pinecone is WONDERFUL. Each survey is $3.00 and just in the last two weeks I’ve gotten 3 product tests. You can’t just join them–you have to look for a link, but if you see it/someone tells you when they’re accepting new people it’s great.
I also like surveyspot. It takes a while doing surveys, but once you’ve taken them for a while, you start getting product tests.
One more–BzzAgent is super. No money, but it is all product testing–the more you test, the more invites you get. You do get points from MyPoints to purchase things such as gift certificates.
    Hope this helps!
    Have fun!
