Ive been getting quite a few emails from readers the last week or so asking me how to get more coupons, and also how to get regional coupons and I thought I should address the questions.
“I only get one Redplum and Procter and Gamble in my newspaper, Is there a way to get more?” -Jay
It seems the Proctor & Gamble and RedPlum are disappearing from more and more Newspapers and are coming more often as direct mailings. Some rural areas (like mine) don’t get the RP or PG in their newspaper or mail at all! so what is a couponer to do?
Here’s what I do to score the coupons I want so I can do the deals and stock up…Friday or Saturday I check out Sunday Coupon Preview and see whats going to be in this weeks paper. If there are coupons for thing I want I head on over to the coupon clipper and see if the coupons are available! Most of the clipper services post the coupons for the Circular a day or so before the circular is actually released…so If its a HOT coupon your after, like the $3/1 Gain that was in 2/13 RP you’ll want to head over to the clipper service Friday or Saturday to see if the coupons are uploaded yet, if they are, order them right away because amounts are limited, and the HOT coupons will sell out! You will pay anywhere from $0.01 to $0.50 per coupon, but I find on average I pay about $0.05 per coupon, regardless of which clipper service I use. To me this is totally worth it… I can order just the coupons I want and know I will use and a few days later they arrive and into my binder they go!

I also buy whole uncut inserts off of ebay once in a while. If its a really hot insert for me and there are alot of coupons I want, its more cost effective for me to order the inserts from ebay, you can buy a set of 5 inserts for as low as $0.99! Obviously, the older the insert the cheaper the price, I just checked and you can score 5 whole inserts for the 2/13 RP for $2.35 (buy it now price)!
If you are lucky enough to get the inserts delivered to you in your newspaper, a great way to get multiples is to visit the Dollar Tree Everythings $1…you can score Sunday Papers for…yep…$1!
” I love your Matchups for Walgreens and CVS, but theres times when I dont have the coupons you list, I hate missing out on a deal!” – Jessica
Coupons can be regional… I may get a $0.50/1 Colgate Toothpaste coupon and you may get a $1.00/1 Colgate Toothpaste coupon…or… one of us may not get the Colgate toothpaste coupon at all! This happened recently where Walmart had Colgate Toothpaste for $1.00 and there was a regional $1.00/1 Colgate Toothpaste coupon. I needed Toothpaste in my stockpile and only buy it when its FREE so, I headed over to the clippers and ordered 20 coupons for $1/1 Colgate because I received the $0.50/1 Colgate in my paper. I paid about $1.00 for the 20 coupons and was then able to score 20 tubes of toothpaste for FREE! (ok, 20 tubes for $1 if you count the cost of my coupons =)
My suggestion is when the weekly lists get posted, if you see a deal you want to do and you don’t have the coupon you need to do it, head over to a clipper service and order some coupons!
